ABOUT PIERCE

Pierce is a multidisciplinary and award-winning writer, academic, librettist and dramaturg, currently undertaking postgraduate study at the University of Queensland in Brisbane.

Pierce is an MPhil candidate in Creative Writing at the University of Queensland. He previously studied theatre directing at the National Institute of Dramatic Art and has worked as an actor, director, playwright, and opera librettist. His operas have been performed at the Melbourne Festival, nominated for the Helpmann Award for Best Opera, and won the Art Music Award. His poetry has been published in Cordite and he was shortlisted for the 2022 UQP Writing Mentorship.

Pierce writes speculative fiction, and makes games that generate challenging personal stories in big cool worlds. As part of his academic research, Pierce is also a member of a group of academics at the University of Queensland using tabletop game design to help understand & solve global problems such as climate change and the rise of AI.
